Acorn To Oak Publishing Company designs and produces reality fantasies in a comic book style.  These are full color, highly illustrated series of short (24 pages) self-cover books for children, adolescents and young adults.  Initial subject areas are health, growth, family and environment.  The purpose is to provide basic educational information in an easy,  most entertaining way.  These short volumes are created for all categories of young people, but they also will reach the “unreachable.”

Some of the books are in different series:  the first on child development (from conception on), child care and health, the second on AIDS.  The third is the Abuse Series covering such subjects as prevention of drug abuse, child abuse, the use of cigarettes, etc.  The fourth series is on the wonders and problems of the environment.   All of them will have a story-telling perspective and a personal voice, usually an unusual one, such as the HIV virus itself.  Some of the books will use the acorn character as a “ Greek chorus” to comment.

Most books are adaptable for particular ethnic groups, as well for international distribution.  The latter will require translations of  language and local conditions.

Two books are complete BABYGROW and BEAT AIDS.  Both have received very favorable comments from such well-known people as the former head of the World Bank.  Other books are in developmental stages.  The subjects of most of the books under development are major public health situations presented in a strongly appealing form.
